     The air was chilly and cool, but refreshing as ropers gathered around for the Northern California Classic. Team ropers from all over the area were ready to try their hand at some great USTRC team roping action. The stage was set for a great event. It all took place at the California Mid State Fairgrounds in Paso Robles, California on March 24-25, 2012
     Travis Xavier from Shandon, California and Mike Monighetti from Los Alamos, California were the winners of the average in the Open Division. They were 44.13 seconds and won $1200 plus Priefert US Open Tour points. The team also won the incentive average. Second place went to Danny Leslie and Dillon Wingereid, and third place was Sean Pascoe and Jared Hixon.

      Sean Pascoe used the momentum from the Open Division to carry him into the #15 Division where he teamed up with heeler Rodney Rivera. The Terra Bella, California team took first place in the average with a time of 42.65 seconds on five steers. They won $2040, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Pascoe and Jake Twisselman with a time of 45.29 seconds on five steers. The third place team was Danny Leslie and Dillon Wingereid.
Austin Condit from Pleasanton, California and Dan Engler from San Luis Obispo, California were the champions of the #13 Division with a time of 55.11 seconds on five steers. They won $2534, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Corey and Adam Fitze finished second place and third place was the team of Travis Xavier and Gary Gist.
     The winners of the #12 Division were Jeremy Crume from Grants Pass, Oregon and Trevor Alves from Klamath Falls, Oregon. They were 33.91 seconds on four steers and won $2430, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Crume and Alves also won the incentive average and the overall fast time. The second place team was Lisa Duncan from Nipomo, California and Dan Engler. Third place was Brian Anderson and Derrek Hee with a time of 40.05 seconds on four steers.
     Pam and Carl Wilken both of Templeton, California were the champions of the Gold Plus Division. They were 38.71 seconds on four steers and received $1952, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Pam Wilken and David Bowen and third place went to Walt Scott and Matt Schieltz. Scott and Schieltz also won the incentive average.
     The winners of the #11 Division were Ali Bilkey from Santa Ynez, California and Trevor Alves from Klamath Falls, Oregon. They were 30.40 seconds on four steers and won $3998, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Bilkey and Hutchins and third place was Walt Scott and Derek Hee. Sean and Kevin Pascoe won the incentive average.
     Danielle Craig from Hollister, California and Dalton Pearce from San Luis Obispo, California were first place in the #10 Division. They came from the second call back position to win the average with a time of 38.05 seconds on four steers. The win gave them $4378, trophy Gist buckles and, $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Cathie and Rowly Twisselman and third was Troy and Cliff Hyder. The Hyder also won the incentive average.
     The California team of Flint Sweet and Ali Bilkey won the average of the #9 Division with a time of 40.75 seconds on four steers. The win was worth $4282, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was the team of David Cannella from Terra Bella, California and Manuel Souza from Farmersville, California with a time of 41.73 seconds on four steers. Third place was Ryan Southwick and Joe Battaglia. The winners of the incentive average were Alan and Don Lewis from Templeton, California and King City, California respectively.
     The winners of the #8 Pick/Draw came from the third call back position. Cutter Machado and Chris Jorge both from Santa Maria, California finished in first place with a time of 30.44 seconds on three steers. The win gave them $1520, trophy Gist buckles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Tom Porter and Joe Battaglia and third place was Justin Hammerlun and Wally Evans.
