I have often wondered why the 4th of July was not called Memorial Day.
Honoring those who served and died in our country’s military service commemorates Memorial Day. In the beginning it was God fearing patriots who fought to win our freedom and conserve a Christian way of life. Are these not the very reasons for celebrating the Fourth of July? Honoring those who suffered and died so the creation of our Declaration of Independence could be achieved? Memorial Day or 4th of July — let us remember that God is in control; God Bless America every day.
1 Timothy 2: 1-2
1 I urge, then, first of all, that request, pray-ers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone – 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. NIV
At this point I should throw in a few patriotic statements by Ben Franklin, John Wayne and former presidents. However, no statement could make us realize that our journey away from God; in our Government, schools and private lives could be anymore desperate than it is RIGHT NOW!
2 Chronicles 7:14
… if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sins and heal their land. NIV
Brothers, sisters, ropers, and Americans I plead with you to get back to Christianity! How long will we be able to enjoy our freedoms and independence from foreign rule without Christ in our lives?
You say, “Bob, I do have Christ in my life, I do pray for our country”. Well, bless you, friend! Now tell 10, no 100, no, tell everyone you meet that they need to pray for our country also. Because if we all get back to praying, maybe then we will see the ‘change’ that we so desperately need.
