When USTRC team ropers converged on the Westworld Equestrian Center the weekend of January 1st through January 3rd they were ready for some Arizona Team Roping. Scottsdale had it all to offer. Many of the ropers came just because the weather was warmer and winter was taking its toll so roping was a good escape. Regardless, of the reasons the Lasso Del Sol in Scottsdale was a great place to spend a weekend having some quality fun.
For Morgan, Utah heeler Paul Freed, roping is not just fun it is a passion. It is a passion that involves his whole family and he has been doing it a long time. It was minus six degrees at Freed’s home in Utah when he loaded his horse and headed south. Scottsdale just sounded like a good place to go. Despite him never having much luck at Scottsdale, he decided to go anyway. He always steers away from places where he doesn’t have much luck but this time it just sort of felt right.
With family in Queen Creek and girls and wife in tow, the Freeds headed for the warmer temps of Arizona. With warmer temperatures come good USTRC team roping and that was what Freed and his daughter were craving.
