The 12th Annual Open To The World Wildfire was held February 13, 2010 in Salado, Texas, sponsored by Resistol Best All-Around.
The average paid seven places going into the short round. There was little room for error with only 1.82 seconds between the high team and the seventh high team. The top 20 short round teams were run slow-back, and beginning with the eighth high team of Erich Rogers and Monty Joe Petska it really started to heat up.
One team after another refused to be outdone by the team prior, literally making tenths of a second determine the new leader. After the third high team of Shane Philipp and Britt Bockius tied the fourth high team of Clay Tryan and Patrick Smith with a six steer total of 41.71, the second high team of Clay Tryan and Travis Graves needed to be less than a 6.89 to take the lead. The lead was theirs when they stopped the clock in 6.56 seconds. The high team of David Key and Jade Corkill needed to be a 6.96 to win. Unfortunately they exited the area with a no-time, reminding all of the spectators that these guys are actually part of the human race!
