CORNING, CA – The New Year’s Casino Barrel Race at the Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Corning, CA was a huge success with a payout of $58,000 over the course of three days!  Ken and Vicky Cook of K/C Arena of Willows, CA produced this event along with Classic Barrel Racing. This event was composed of a Futurity, Derby, Open and Youth race with contestants from California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and Colorado.  
With over 1,000 runs in the arena the crew, led by Ken Cook, did an amazing job keeping the ground fast, safe and consistent.  
Double J Pozzi Saddles were awarded to the Open average champions thanks to Rolling Hills Casino.
Madison Camozzi won the Derby average on Goodwins Reflect. The Camozzi family bought him as a yearling and he made it to the NHSRA Finals last year as a five year old in Pole Bending. They entered him in the Derby just hoping for a 2D placing. He has far exceeded the family’s expectations. His dam is Macho Tink Benita and sire is Quite the Reflection. Goodwins Reflect was trained by David Lawson of Santa Rosa, Calif.
The Futurity was won by Stormi Pitman riding Royal Fanci Injun. In speaking with Stormi she told us that the four year old mare is owned by Juanita Selman. Stormi said this mare is all business, once she knows it’s time to run she goes in and gives 100%.  Stormi said she is a really special horse and she can’t wait to be a part of her success in the future.
