Hawaii ACTRA Chapter

HAWAII – This year’s ACTRA Hawaii State Finals started off with beautiful Hawaiian weather which lasted pretty much the whole weekend. We got blessings on Saturday afternoon but it helped to keep the dust under control. We had lots of participation from the outer islands which made for a great weekend of 1,262 teams. The finals started out on Friday with the #8.5 Roping being won by Bronson Branco and Ethan Awa. The next roping was the Century Roping being won by Ken Miranda and Zanga Schutte. We finished up the day with the #10.5 Handicap Roping, won by the brother and sister team of Makayla Awa and Ethan Awa. The second day of the finals started beautiful blue skies with the Pacific Ocean in the background. We started the day off with the #7 Handicap Roping that was won by Daniel Miranda and Ethan Awa. The #5.5 Roping followed with lots of rain to keep us all cool. Winning the roping was a mother-son team (Tisha Awa and Ethan Awa). The blue skies and sunshine return for the last day of our finals. We started it off with the #4 Roping and the young guns came out to rope. Winning the roping was Kelvin Medeiros and Daniel Miranda. We wrapped the weekend off with the #3 Roping being won by Dusty DeLuz and Kama Kalaukoa. Big mahalo to all of our sponsors Hawaii County Fair Foundation, American Pacific Inc – International, DeMattos Plumbing, West Hawaii Concrete, Kumumea, Just In Time 2 Grind, Danny and Freline Pajimola, HPM, DeRego Services, Nolan Nobriga and Bob Hamilton.
