FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Following this week’s electric 2023 Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) event inside the historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, not only are there new event champions crowned, but the event reached a new level of dominant competition and record-breaking showcases.
  As the 2023 event finals got underway, a ferociously contested Breakaway Roping Event Championship race capped off a slug-fest between Kelsie Domer (Dudlin, Texas), Kassidy Dennison (Tohatchi, NM), and Haliegh Grant (Santa Maria, California).
  Domer’s grit and determination was evident before Texas native even stepped boot inside Cowtown Coliseum for one of her first events in 2023.
  After making her way into the event through the last chance qualifier, Domer collected one of two positions during the LCQ after placing out of the first-place spot by a slim one-one-hundredth of a second.
Backing into the box last, only needing to make a clean run under 4.47 seconds, Domer delivered a groundbreaking performance, as the string broke away from her saddle horn at an impressive 2.16-second time. Domer was presented her Event Championship check with her daughter, Oaklynn, and they walked away from the event with a total of $61,000.
  After two arena records were broken this week, barrel racing was a shootout for the $60,000 event champion payout. Ultimately, it was 2019 WCRA Champion Cheyenne Wimberely (Stephenville, Texas) who was crowned the 2023 Women’s Rodeo Barrel Racing Event Champion. After making her WRWC debut as an event alternate on the pro leaderboard, her jaw-dropping 13.105 push through the Cowtown Coliseum course propelled her to the top of today’s battle, beating Stephanie Fryar’s (Waco, Texas) 13.179-second effort and current WPRA Rookie Standing Leader Kalli Mccall (Lufkin, Texas) 13.269 run. Taking the top time aboard her horse Fast Flingin Dash, Wimberley netted $63,400 throughout the week.
  As the World Championship event continued on Wednesday evening, a hotly contested battle in the Team Roping began to unfurl. Roping duo Jackie Crawford (Stephenville, Texas) and all-around cowgirl Martha Angelone (Cross Junction, Virgina) had fans inside the historic arena on the edge of their seat as they were second to run, earning a remarkable 7.08-second time. Kayelen Helton (Stephenville, Texas) and Lorraine Moreno (Mathis, Texas) notched a valiant 7.13-second run, to take the number two spot. Crawford earned nearly $63,000 in the week while Angeone snagged over $80,000. This is Crawford’s fourth WCRA title.

WRWC is the largest annual purse for a women’s rodeo event. With the conclusion of the 2023 Women’s Rodeo World Championship, the event has paid out $3 million to women rodeo athletes since 2020.
