2016 ACBRA Finals - A Very Cool Weekend

SALINAS, CALIF. – What a great ending to the 2015-2016 season. The ACBRA wrapped up their year at what was a new Finals venue for the association, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse grounds in Salinas, California and the feedback was spectacular! All of the racers really enjoyed the new location. As always, Salinas has gorgeous weather in summer, so the racers got to cool off over the pleasant weekend. There was plenty of room to park and camp, and the arena ground was superb!

There was a warm-up race Friday night to kick off both the weekend and the new season. Saturday was the first round of the Finals. Checks were awarded in a straight race in each category and in an overall 5D with all of the racers. Then Saturday night the Posse was kind enough to cook for the girls. There was a tri-tip and chicken BBQ which led right into the year-end awards ceremony. In all five categories, awards were given to the Top 10. Then the whole night was capped off by a drawing amongst the competitors for a two-horse Maverick trailer! Shamrock Gregory was the lucky winner.

Sunday marked the second go of the Finals. Again, there were checks in each category in the round, checks in the overall 5D, and checks in the category and 5D averages. In all, almost $45,000 in cash was paid out over the weekend! That doesn’t even include the over $40,000 in awards and prizes! It was a great weekend with a lot of opportunities to win!
