AGUA DULCE, CA – The second annual Nick Dashnaw Memorial Roping was held April 8.

This special event at the JPK Arena is to remember Nick Dashnaw and to raise money for the “Fight Against Drugs.” Nick was a very special young man who was loved by all those blessed to know him. Nick was a very talented stuntman and rodeo cowboy, who also served in the United States Coast Guard. His friends from the movie industry, the cowboy community, college and the Coast Guard came out to show their love and support of his family.

Nick’s family wants to help other families by working to raise awareness and funds to change the lives of those who struggle with addiction and especially those who are born addicted to drugs.

This year’s memorial roping was once again spear-headed by Shawn Howell and Brian Brown. It proved to be such a huge success again this year primarily because of the hard work and labor of love from these two men. We are forever grateful to them.

We would also like to thank the amazing people who made all this happen by donating their time, money, prizes, awards and the great food and drinks. Thank you to Jerry Koopman who generously donated the arena and ground prep, Cactus Saddlery, Best Ever Pads, Clint Mortenson Silver and Saddles, Ropes Galore, Fast Back Ropes, W.J. Brooks Hat Co, Fox Feed, Best Valley Feeds, Heel -O-Matic, Josh Love, Veronica Brown, Teri Garland Leonard, the Craig Carter Band, Chris Stafford, Rosemary Harrison, Travis and Lindy Gorham, Robert Rodriguez, Kristian Kerry, Brian Duffy, Eddie Fernandez, Robin and Wade Hooker, CJ Baca, HP Evetts, Bonnie Happy, Gentry Ortiz, Tracey Scott, Sally Ives, Rex Ives, Johnny Ives, Jackson French, Jordan and Kelly Warrack, Scott and Melissa Perez, Fast House, Brand X Stunts and the United Stuntwoman’s Association.

The day consisted of team roping, ribbon roping, a petting zoo, a live auction, raffles, the In-N-Out Burger truck for lunch and a taco truck for dinner. The evening ended with dancing and live music by the Craig Carter Band that came all the way out from Texas.
