I want to congratulate Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith for putting on a beautiful display of roping and horsemanship while shattering the average record at this year’s BFI. I was particularly happy for Trevor as he checked one more thing off his bucket list, the BFI championship. Patrick, who won the BFI in 2005 with Clay Tryan, seemed equally as happy for Trevor.

Ullman-Peterson Events did a wonderful job on their production of the BFI in this, only their second year of ownership. It was amazing to see all the new sponsors that came on board this year.

I really enjoyed watching the young talent that was entered at this year’s event and am excited for the future. One of the young ropers that really stood out, was Cody Snow, a high school student from Santa Ynez, Calif., who was entered with past BFI and PRCA World Champion. They roped the fourth fastest time in the first round but failed to reach the short round.

In closing, I would like to give a shout out to all the ropers for their display of horsemanship and how they handled the smaller, fresher cattle.

Looking forward to the 37th Annual BFI in 2014.
