Hello friends, I apologize for the delay in getting this new blog done and up. Seems like this great life we live has been flying by, and I ‘ve been a little behind. A lot of good has come in this time since my last blog.
As I hit send on my last blog, my mom, brother, and Papa were headed to Arizona for a week, where we were so fortunate enough to stay at Ozzie and Judy Gillum’s beautiful place. You hear about how awesome, and how roping-oriented Arizona is in the winter months, but it’s tough to really even fathom until you experience it for yourself. There was not a day that went by that we didn’t rope out in 70-degree sunshine. My rodeo partner, Jordan Ketscher, also came down that week, as did Andy Holcomb and Fallon Avery. Boy, we had a blast down there, and were lucky enough to come back to California with some money in our pockets! Also, thank you to Ryan Reed for showing us around down there.

Hello my friends… I am excited to sit down and do this blog. I apologize for it taking me a while to get a new one cranked out. So much has been happening, and I’ve been so busy with trying to practice and get all my work done on the school front. I hope this blog finds all of you enjoying life, and I wish you a happy holiday season with Thanksgiving right around the bend.
As I mentioned in the last blog, I had the privilege of going up to the 101st Annual Pendleton Round-Up in September! It was one of the coolest experiences I’ve had. You hear about the Round-Up, but there’s no way to really know how wild, reckless, and unique it truly is until you see it for yourself.

Hi friends, thanks for following this blog here at roperssportsnews.com. What an exciting time of the year in the rodeo world right now. The most exciting news I’ve got is that the field of 15 in each event to compete at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, which will run December 1st through the 10th in Las Vegas, is officially set. The countdown now begins for the single greatest sporting event in the western world. For some contestants it will be their first time in the city of lights, and for others it’s become a ritual to compete in the Thomas & Mack Arena, located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Hi friends, I hope you have all been having a great time doing what you do. It’s been a busy time! I guess they say Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer, and the start of fall, but I’ve still got another two weeks of summer vacation before school starts at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, so I have no plans of slowing down.
To me, this is such an exciting time of the year, as far as ProRodeo is concerned. September marks the final month of the regular season for 2011. So that is the cutoff for the top 15 in each event to compete at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December. Starting October 1st, all money won at PRCA rodeos will count toward the 2012 World Standings. With not much time left to solidify a spot in the top 15 in the world, it’s now a knife fight for the bottom spots on the roster. To me, after rodeoing all year long, and having it come down to a couple last rodeos to decide if you’re going to the NFR must be quite stressful. With all the pressure, I really enjoy watching guys keep a positive attitude, and come through. That shows great power to remain calm and cool, and just know to go out and do your job, without trying to do too much and get in a jam.
