ARBUCKLE, CALIF. – September 5 was an unusually warm day at Wildwood Arena, but ropers and supporters of the Brea McGrew Memorial Roping would not let a little thing like heat stop the support in memory of Brea. Lots of prizes and added money made this a very competitive roping. The turnout was amazing, with more than 200 teams in each of the first jackpots.
Willie Worley and Paige of Wildwood Arena did a great job of running the roping. Great cattle, chute help, timing and flagging kept the ropers on track. The ability to enter the roping online sped up the process for the Pick & Draw pots. Thank you, Spring Krogue.
This was more than just a memorial roping. This roping raised money for Brea’s favorite charity – Harvest Home. We all knew that Brea was looking down on us, keeping the ropers and livestock safe.
This outstanding event would not have been possible without the help, donations and support of the following people: Willie and Paige of Wildwood Arena; Robert McGrew; Rod and Marti McGrew, B&R Sales - Becky and Rich Moore; Mike and Lisa Potts, Butch and Connie Littrell; Chris and Nichole Burgess; Toni Morrison; Higby’s Feed; Wilbur Ellis; and Diamond Nuts.

Talks are already underway on how to make next year’s event bigger and better. Thanks to the ropers who came out to this this first annual Brea McGrew Memorial Roping, and see you next year.
