USTRC Northern California Classic

Paso Robles, California and the California Mid-State Fairgrounds were the host of the USTRC’s Northern California Classic. The two-day event took place March 23-24, 2013 and greeted ropers with a great place to load up on USTRC Flex Earnings. 

The first roping of the weekend was the #15 Division.  Cody Snow from Los Olivos, California and Dillon Wingereid from San Miguel, Calif. teamed up to win first place in the average. The pair roped four steers in 29.74 seconds and won $1,256, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Ryan Browder from San Luis Obispo, California and Carl Wilken from Templeton, California. Third place was John Machado and Dillon Wingereid.

Derek Hee from Pismo Beach, California and Wyatt Cox from Arroyo Grande, Calif. finished first place in the #13 Division. They were 30.24 seconds on four steers and won $2,692, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Cody Snow and Jason Johe. Ali Bil-key and Dillon Wingereid won third place.

Wyatt Cox again finished on top in the #12 Division. He and header Lane Lowry caught four steers in 33.57 seconds. They won $3,312, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Dustin Noblitt from Solvang, Calif. and John Machado from Santa Maria, Calif. Ryan Browder and Scott Hutchins won third place. Cathie Twisselman and Jorge Martinez both from Santa Margarita, Calif. won the incentive average.

In the #12 Gold Plus the win of the roping went to Alison Grantham from Creston, Calif. and Carl Wilken from Templeton, Calif. They won $1,916, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was John Machado and Tony Domingos. Third place was the team of Dustin Noblitt and John Machado.  Chuck Tarbell and Kevin Pascoe won the incentive average.  Buster Berna and Gary Gist finished first place in the Century Bonus.

The final roping of the first day of competition at the Northern California Classic was the #11 Division. Cash Parrott from Acton, Calif. and Tyler Forsberg from Fillmore, Calif. won first place. They were 36.75 seconds and earned $3,722, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Mary Stubblefield from Taft, Calif. and Jim Pratt from Acton, Calif. Third place in the average was Brian Anderson from Kamuela, Hawaii and Frank Mello from Avila Beach, Calif. Danielle Craig and Ali Bilkey won the incentive average.

Mary Stubblefield carried her success from the #11 Division into the #10 Gold Plus Division. She and heeler Kevin Pascoe from Bakersfield, Calif. won first place with a time of 39.90 seconds on four steers.  Second place was Stubblefield and Ron Hognestad. Third was Keith Thornton and Ron Hognestad. Chuck Tarbell and Kevin Pascoe won the incentive average and the century bonus.

Wyatt Cox was back for more in the #10 Division. He and header Zach Varian won the average and the incentive average of the #10 Division.  They received $4,996, four trophy Gist buckles and $8,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Danny Fleming and Chance Ruffoni. Third place in the average went to Buster Berna and Kevin Pascoe. 

The win of the #9 Division went to the team of Lane Luis from Los Alamos, Calif. and Cayden Cox. The team earned $4,608, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place in the average was Ryan Southwick and Kenny Rolston with a time of 44.04 seconds on four steers.  Third place in the average was Chance Machado and Tony Domingos. Zach Varian and Cody Golding won the incentive ave-rage.

The last roping of the Northern California Classic was the #8 Pick/Draw. Robbie Litton from Gilroy, Calif. and Bill Arnold from Santa Margarita, Calif. finished in first place.  They roped three steers in 36.33 seconds and won $1,612, trophy Gist buckles and, $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place in the average was Brian Mendonza from Sunol, Calif. and Gerald Coffey from Salinas, Calif. Third place in the average went to the team of Alan Lewis from Templeton, Calif. and Six Puentes from Visalia, Calif.
