LITCHFIELD PARK, ARIZONA – Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their eleventh annual performance horse sale Saturday, Feb. 13, in Litchfield Park  at Double T Arena. Horses were previewed on Friday in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Joe Day riding hip #69, TS Tang Olena, and Ryan VonAhn, riding hip #82 Mesquitewood 6711. It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Horses were previewed again Saturday morning. Horses were demonstrated in the events of roping, cutting, and cow horse, with the sale beginning at 1 p.m. A professional staff included auctioneers Joel White and Paul Ramirez, announcer John Johnson, and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Mitch Armitage, and Cas Salley. Jeff Thorstenson did a great job announcing the previews. The office was managed by Andrew and Jessica Larson.

The high-selling horse, Playin Haidan Seek, a 2006 bay gelding, was consigned by Rick Chayer. This awesome rope horse is a proven head and heel Horse. He sold for $28,000 to Richard Welch from California. Other top-10 selling horses were consigned by: Rick Chayer, Ryan Von Ahn, Jay Mattson, Turner Performance Horses, Clay and Susan Myers, Bode Baize and Jason Hershberger. The top 10 horses averaged $22,100.

Jason is always excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. Jason was glad to see the quality of horses that were brought by consignors from Arizona, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Missouri, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Texas, Utah and Montana. The overall average sale price on the horses sold was $11,100. Despite the high average there were some good buys of really nice horses for under $10,000. Thanks to the consignors who brought these quality horses.

This year’s lucky buyer was Kristen Petersen. She took home the KO Elite trophy saddle from the raffle drawing at the end of the sale. A special thank you to Troy Fischer for the beautiful buckles that he made for the high buyer and high seller.

Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this year’s performance horse sale a success. Hershberger Performance Horses would like to thank all who attended.  We are grateful to all our buyers who trust in the quality brought to the Hershberger Performance Horse Sale.

Lot #31, Popethedudesmall, a red roan heel horse, is already doing well with his new owners, the Mota family, in New Jersey.
