SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Grand National Barrel Racing Jackpot at the Cow Palace was simply put, amazing! Competing at the Cow Palace on any level is an honor and this year’s jackpot barrel race was a special event, over the course of two days there were 661 runs between the Open, Youth, High Stakes and PeeWee classes with a payout of more than $35,000! Steve Smart our announcer kept the event moving quickly and the audience entertained. Our premier sponsor, Milton Security Group, provided four Cactus Champion saddles to average winners, as well as Bullstrong Silversmith Custom stirrups and buckles and they contributed a majority of the added money.
Saturday we started the day at 5:30am with time only runs. Contestants and horses were excited to get in the famous arena and prepare for the race. Saturday’s fast time was run by Katie McCaslan, it was a beautiful run! We brought the top five from the Open back Saturday night for the Short Go to start the rodeo. The Short Go was won by Cathy Cagliari. Sunday we ran the Open, the High Stakes and then the PeeWee riders who stole the show! Huge thanks to Randy Whitlow Trucking for sponsoring the PeeWee awards. Each PeeWee contestant received a Cow Palace sweatshirt and Cow Palace ribbon. Jandee Smart set the place on fire in the second round on Sunday with the fast run of the weekend, 14.991.
We handed out more than $10,000 in awards in daily prizes, average prizes and random drawings.
